Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Help..., jumper cable, soleniod

Question
Ihave a Murray riding lawn mower 17HP, 42 in cut. Two weeks ago when I cut my Grass, as I was finishing it ran out of gas, sputtered, then cut off.  Last week I added gas and attempted to start it, all it did was clicked and then nothing. I attempted again, same thing.  I finally jumped it from the car and finished cutting the grass.  I turned it off, then tried to restart...nothing.  This week thinking it was the battery, I replaced it.  However, I had the same result...click then nothing.  What could this be or what can I do?  Please Help

Answer
 Hello Skip:

Depending on the Model of the Mower this Will Help find the Problem. Some Models have a Relay that will Go Bad. This Relay is Usually Located Under the Seat. Take a Jumper Cable Set and Attach One Red End to One Side of the Soleniod. Take the Other End and FIRMLY Touch the Other Side of the Soleniod. If the Starter Turns, then the Soleniod is Bad. If the Starter Does Not Turn, then the Starter is Dragging/Bad. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully
