Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Loose floppy belt on mower deck, speed transaxle, craftsman model

I have a Craftsman model 917.254940, 14HP, Electric Start, 38" mowerdeck, with a 6 speed transaxle and I wanted to know if there as any way to adjust the tension on the belt for the mower deck?
If not I'll have to replace the belt

 Hello R Feine:

 There is a Spring that Holds the Tension for the Belt when Engaged. Go to http://www3.sears.com/ Click Lawn Equipment and Follow the Directions to View the Diagram for your Mowers Deck. In the Diagram, Number 43(spring) is what Im talking about. If this Spring is Weak or Missing the Belt will be Loose. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please.
