Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Transmission brake / clutch on a jd stx38, clutch pedal, transmission brake

Question
I have just replaced the drive belt, deck belt, brake pads and the control arm that runs from the clutch pedal to the trani/clutch brake.  The mower conitues to run forward and backwards while the brake/clutch is depressed.  Its like im on a 8 sec bull ride trying to hit "N" any ideas what to look for ?

Answer
Did the mower do this before you replaced the belts?

Is the idler pulley for the clutch working correctly?  With the mower off and spark plug removed, look under the mower while depressing the clutch.  The belt should have slack/be loose with the clutch pushed in.

Also check the transaxle mounting bolts.
Did you use JD belts?
Let me know.
