Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): sears ride on, exact layout, shift lever

I have an old sears ride on and it won't go into reverse.  I bought it at a garage sale and it did work. After hitting a bump and the chain coming off it wouldn't go into reverse.  Any help would be appreciated!

Hi Michelle,

Sorry, I am not familiar with the exact layout of the drive system on your model.  I would inspect the underside of the mower, looking for something that was changed or overlooked when the chain was re-installed.  Remove the cover that surrounds the shift lever and see how it operates (or should) when put into reverse.
