Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman mower starts then stops, center tube, delivery problem

I was given a Craftsman lawnmower Model # 917-377610.
When attempting to use it the engine cuts off after a few seconds. I've replaced the soarkplug, air filter, added new gas and oil. I'm out of answers as to the problem.

Fuel delivery problem.  Look at the carburator under the air cleaner.  It has a metal bowl at its base.  This must be removed, and the single large fastener holding it from the bottom must be throughly cleaned.  Get a can of carb cleaner first, and use the little red tube that came with it plus a very small wire to clean out the fastener.  Also spray up into the center tube going up into the carb body really well.
