Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Engine cuts off., craftsman riding mower, carburator

Question
I have a 4 year old 20 HP craftsman riding mower with a B-S engine.  About a year ago the engine would start-up fine, but would cut out after about 15 seconds of running.  When trying to restart, the battery would almost go dead before the engine would turn over (about 2 or 3 minutes of trying to satrt it).  Once I get it restarted, it runs fine and starts right up when I cut it off.

Answer
 Hello David:

Check the Oil for Gas Smell. If you smell gas in the Oil, then the Carburator is Leaking Gas into the Cylinder and Flooding the Engine When Not in Use. You can Install a Cut Off in the Gas Line Between the Carburator and the Gas Tank. Check the Gas Cap for Proper Venting of the Tank. If the Cap is Good, The Clean and Overhaul the Carburator. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
