Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): john deere stx38, clutch adjustment, clutch assembly

Question
Good morning, I have a quick question for you John. I bought a used john deere stx38 with a kohler cv12.5s motor. The mower worked fine until my wife used it the other day. It runs fine if I ride it from the barn to the house. the problem is when I switch on the PTO switch it turns on the blades mows for a little bit then the blades stops, then the blades engage again and a few seconds later the blades stops and then the process start all over again. I've checked the seat safety switch, but the pto no longer stay active. Please help my wife wants to get on my new John deere 3320 tractor. I believe it might be the pto pulley, but I'm not sure. Sincerly Jack

Answer
 Hello Jack:

The Mower you have is a Good Mower. The Problem Could be in the Switch and Some of these Mowers have a Relay that may also be the Problem. Locate the Hot Wire to the Clutch and Run a Fused Hot Wire from the Battery Straight to the Clutch. If the Clutch Gives no Problem after Doing this Then, the Switch or the Relay May be Bad. If it Still Jumps In and Out Check the Clutch Adjustment. There Are 3 Bolts that Adjust the Clutch Assembly.  Go this Link and you can see the Clutch Assembly and this should Help you with the Adjustment. http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/servlet/com.deere.u90490.partscatalog.view.servlets.H... Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully
