Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Oil leak problem on Craftsman 5.0 HP /22, craftsman model, steering wheel puller

Question
John,
Sorry for the delay on getting the engine info. The plate on the engine shows only the Craftsman model number of 143.995002. On another line it says WTPXS.1851BA
Does that help? There's no mention of Tecumseh or B & S info anywhere that I could see.

Question -
The engine started leaking from what looks like an oil line that goes from the carburetor section to the top of the block. The line is 1/4" tubing and connects to some sort of plastic fitting in the top of the block, just under the flywheel (or whatever it is called that interacts with the magneto to provide the spark. It looks like I may need to pull that flywheel but am unsure of how to do that. I think the plastic fittin will pop off the block but I am not sure and don't want to try prying it for fear of breaking it. Any ideas?

Answer
 Hello Lou:

I found the Diagram. It Looks like the Breather for the Crankcase is Bad. Go to http://www3.sears.com/ and in the Right Lower Corner of the Screen Click Lawn Equipment. Then follow the Directions to View the Parts Breakdown. The Breakdown will show you the Breather Assembly. The Flywheel is Removed as follows:  Remove the Starter Cup Nut, Washer and The Cup itself. Take a Steering Wheel Puller and Attach it to the Flywheel. Tighten the Puller and then Hit the Puller with a Hammer to Jar the Flywheel. Repeat Process until the Flywheel Pops up and Can be Lifted Off the Engine. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
