Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Mower wont stay running, tank lines, steady position

Question
I have a Craftsman lawnmower that has a B&S 11 hp motor on it.  Before the season, I cleaned the carb and put fresh fuel in the tank, replaced the plug and air filter, and replaced the fuel filter and fuel line.  The motor has run pretty well, but has been sitting outside for the last two weeks.  I tried to start it and it would run for a couple of minutes and then shut off.  It would restart and then shut off again.  The motor would rev up and down slightly while running, and the carb linkage would not stay in a steady position.  I looked into the carb and it looked bone dry.  I haven't investigated any further yet, and I wanted to have a little input before I started taking things apart.  Any information that you can give me is greatly appreciated.  Thank you!

Answer
 Hello Tim:

It Sounds like Trash/Water is in the Fuel System. You say the Carb is "bone dry". Check the Tank, Lines, and Gas Filter to Ensure the Gas is Getting to the Carb. If it is, then Disassemble the Carb and Clean it Again. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please.

 Good Luck
