 Hello Terry:

If you dont have the Test Equipment: while the Coil is Still on the Engine; Disconnect the Shut Off Wire from the Coil at the Connector Lug Located on the Engine Throttle Control Plate. Its the Small Wire Lead from the Coil. If it Doesnt Fire the Plug with this Wire Disconnected, then the Coil is Bad. The Reason for Disconnecting the Coil Shut Off Wire from the Connection Lug on the Throttle Control Plate is to Ensure there are no Safety Switches to Interfer with the Operation of the Coil. It will Help if you Send the Engine Model Numbers when Asking about Engine Problems and the Frame Model Numbers when the Question is about the Mower itself. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please.

Answer
 Hello Terry:

Is this a Magnet Activated Coil? If Yes, The Magnet on the Flywheel Fires the Coil and the Stator is the Charging System. Im going to have to Look up this Engine. My Reference Books Dont List it. However, this might help: If this is One with the External Coil, then Check the Ignition Module. To Test a Magnet Activated Coil; Make Sure the Small Lead (shut off lead) is Disconnected at the First Connection from the Coil. Turn the Engine. It will Fire or Not. If Not, Replace the Coil. The Coil Contains the Ignition Module on the Magnet Activated Coils. If the Coil is External, Then your Local Automotive Parts Store Should have a Coil Tester. If Not, they can Tell you Where to got to have it Tested. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please.
