Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 18HP B&S INTEK Carburetor??, s yard, gray smoke

Question
18 hp b&s Yard Machine lawn tractor was given to me. I don't know its history but i'm a fair mechanic.
It runs just fine but every once in awhike it will emit a large cloud of whitish-gray smoke and lose some rpms, i figure its probally the crancase vent? The main problem is when it stalls or I shut it off gas fills the cylinders.
The carb has a solenoid (after-fire). I can't seem to find any troubleshooting info or rebuild schematics. Advice & possibly a diagram would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
The after-fire solenoid shut-off the main carb jet when the key is turned off.

Since the cylinders are filling with gas, then the inlet needle is not sealing.  This could be due to a bad inlet needle, seat, float or just dirt/debris.

Have you taken the carb off to inspect the carburetor bowl?
Those carbs are very straight forward and not difficult to clean.

Let me know.
