Question -
i have a flymo GT47 2 stroke which gives no spark at the spark plug and obviously will not fire up.
It operates by a simple on /off switch on the handle.
I have put fresh petrol mix in.
I carried out a continuity check on this cable from the simple switch back to the mower. there are no breaks in the cable.
i cannot get to one end of the HT lead to test this out as i don't know how to remove the fly wheel on top of the engine. It does not come off when trying to lever it (do i require some special tool)and is it the HT lesd at fault?

Hiya Kev
Haven't worked on any of those models- but I'm bettin they have points vto go with a magneto and condenser.

Have you replaced the points yet?

Answer
Hi Again Kev
Unfortunately,..  yes you need a special puller to ge the flywheel off, some guys use a trick to do it- shove a wedge under one side to "load" the flywheel, pop the other side with a brass hammer and it often pops off (its installed onto a tapered shaft, so its wedged on itself)

Make sure you pay close attention to the on-off wire/cable. That isn't an enabling switch, its a dis-abling switch, meaning off = grounding the ignition out.  Any bare spot in the wire touching the chassis will prevent a spark- so look it over closely.
Lemme know how this goes ok?
by the way where are you?  I understand flymo's are a uniquely European design (I think they're cool as heck)  but  I've never seen one stateside.
