Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): briggs and stratton motor not working, briggs and stratton, carbonator

i have a briggs and stratton motor and for some reason it not working i have check teh carbonator and and it looks fine but my dad put grease on the bracket that goes from teh govern to the engine pipe i think and it stop working then could this cause any problems for it and i am not getting spark thanks

First, replace your spark plug
Second, if new plug dosen't work, you'll need to check the points which are underneath the flywheel.  If you don't have a good basic set of tools and aren't comfortable doing some grunt mechanical work- you can do this yourself, otherwise- take it to a shop, they'll diagnose your ignition problem very quickly (just make sure you change that plug first)
