Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): craftsman riding mower deck belt loose, model numbers, quill

Question
John, I have a craftsman riding mower. When I lower the mower deck, the belt flaps terribly and looks like it needs adjusting/tightening. Any help?

Answer
 Hello Betty:

To Really Help I Require the Model Numbers off of the Frame of the Mower. However, here are some things to look for: 1- The Spring for the Tension Idler on the Deck is Bad/Broken. 2- The Tension Idler for the Blade Belt is Bad. 3- The Belt is Stretched to the Point that the Tension Idler Cant Work. 4- A Quill Assembly (blade tower) has bad Bearings and is Allowing the Belt to Flap. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
