Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Briggs & Stratton- no spark, briggs stratton, engine cranks

Question
Hi- I have an 18.5 Briggs & Stratton that hasn't started this year.  The engine cranks but I have no spark at either plug.  Based on the wiring diagram, is it possible I have a bad switch preventing spark at either plug? How can I test that?

Answer
 Hello John:

Remove the Coil Lead from the Switch. It Shows Yellow in Your Diagram. This Wire Needs to be Removed as Close to the Coil As Possible, ie The Mounting Bracket for the Throttle Control If on a Riding Mower. Make Sure this Lead Cant Touch Ground and Turn the Engine to Check for Spark. If Spark, Then a Switch is Bad. If No Spark Replace the Coil. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
