Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Bumps causing gocart to flood out., briggs and stratton, smooth surfaces

Question
I bought a new 6.5HP Briggs and Stratton motor for my kids gocart that cuts out really bad when going over bumps. Once it slows down, it runs smooth again, until more bumps are encountered.

I am sure it is the carb, since adjusting the fuel shutoff nearly off makes it run smooth until the fuel level drops which makes it starve for gas.

My question is whether there is an anti vibration kit for the carb, or I just have to set the float lower and hope for the best?

Answer
 Hello Rob:

If you are Restricting the Flow of Gas to the Carb and it Runs Good over Bumps, the it Sounds like the Float is Set too High which Fills the Carb Float Bowl to just the Point of Flooding. With the Float Set this High it Will Run Good on Smooth Surfaces but, when you hit Bumps the Gas is High enough to Slosh and Flood the Engine. If this is the Correct Understanding then, 1- Remove the Carb. 2- Remove the Carb Bowl. 3- With the Carb Upside Down (Float Up), is the Float Horizontal with the Bowl Seat. If Not then, CAREFULLY Bend the Small Ear that Rests on the Needle. and Set the Float. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully
