Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman straight shaft trimmer - carb problem, straight shaft, fuel needle

Question
I've had the usual small problems with this trimmer, but now I'm a little stumped. I tried to prime the carb using the bulb, but this time it didn't re-expand when I pushed it in which to me indicated a venting problem. Of corse because it didn't move the gas it didn't start. I took the carb off and checked the lines and all were clear. The two that come from the tank, one to the bulb the other to the carb both let gas out when I unhooked them, and I could blow through both. The one from the bulb to the carb was clear, but I don't know if its blocked in the metal tube or not. I bypassed the bulb and it started but wouldn't clear itself, so it eventually stalled. It did this several times. With the bulb back in place it wouldn't start. Any suggestions on getting this problem fixed?

Answer
 Hello John:

This is a Common Problem. The Carb needs to be Cleaned and Overhauled. Gas has Formed into a Varnish that is Restricting the Flow of Fuel and Probally has the Fuel Needle in the Carb Frozen. Hence the Primer Bulb not Pressing. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please.

 Good Luck
