Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Honda HR194 Mower, honda hr194, lever arms

Question
Allen, My mower stalled out and will start for a few seconds and stall. I can keep it running by manually holding the throttle. I've cleaned the carb, checked and cleaned the carb bowl, replaced the plug, replaced the gas and added stabilizer.
It still doesn't stay running. Do you have any advice?

Thanks
Len

Answer
Hiya len-
You say manually holding the throttle?  Are you constantly giving it gas to keep it running?

ok- quick check- drop the fuel bowl and verify that you can control the gas flow by raising/lowering the float.

Next you should get a can of carb cleaner and spray directly up into the center tube leading up out of the bowl.  This leads to your jets and you should see evidence of spray coming into the throat of the carb by doing this.

Next make sure the govenor linkage is good and not loose.  This is a solid connection of lever arms to the govenor link arm coming out of the block.

Next check that the throttle spring hasn't come loose (throttle isn't directly connected to the carb, theres a spring between)

Lemme know what you find!
