Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Ryobi Trimmer 724, ryobi trimmer, carbon buildup

Question
End of the season last year it ideled high and became less accomodating whne increasing throttle. Now I can start it but it will only run with the choke on full and will die when the choke is released and throttle is increased. I tried a new plu but no help. I also took the carb apart and cleaned it to be sure no ports were blocked. Still it will not run when given throttle. It acts like a fuel problem. Any ideas?

First- the obvious- new fuel and air filter

Next thing- take apart the exhaust and remove any carbon buildup.  Two-cycles are very sensitive to this.

now- if you want to verify that it IS a fuel problem, squirt a little gas mix directly into the carb-let it warm up first-

If thats ok- Look very closely at the fuel line from the gas tank, these lines sometimes deteriorate and collapse!

Next I would just replace the fuel pump membrane, in case there's a pinhole you can't see.

Lemme know how this goes!
