Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Briggs & Stratton 12.5 hp engine, briggs stratton, hp engine

Question
Hi John, I have a B&S 12.5 hp engine.  It locked up.  I took it to a repair shop, who told me they could not fix it.  They said it threw a rod.  They basically said the engine is toast, and I would need a new.  They said that this model wasn't made anymore and I should just buy a new mower.  The model number is 28v707 type is 1113-e1  code 0206257D.  It's a Murray riding lawn mower that I bought from Lowes about 3 years ago.  I'm really bummed, as I haven't had the mower that long.  Is there any where I can buy a new engine for this?  Also, is there another model engine that would be compatible if I can't find this exact model?  Thanks so much.

Answer
 Hello Janice:

There are Several Engines that can be Purchased to Replace your Blown Engine. Briggs & Stratton and The Other Engine Manufactures have Replacements. All that is Required to Match Your Engine is HP, Crankshaft Length and Diameter, Controls Hookup and the Mounting Holes Matching. Stay within 2HP when you Look at a Replacement Engine. Never go more than 2HP Higher or Lower when Replacing a Small Engine. This will help Prevent Over and Under Powering the Rider. http://www.outdoordistributors.com/ This Addy will Help. If you need to Call Them and Speak with a Parts Rep. If Noone can give you the Replacement Model Number, Contact me Again after 3 Days and Ill have a Replacement Engine Number for you. Hope this Helps. Let me know what Happens, Please.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
