Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): golf cart with a honda gx620 motor, souped up golf, gas welder

Question
Hi,
We put a honda v-twin gx620 24hp into our golf cart.it has a lot of power but the speed was slow.also when you step on the gas it would become jerky with no load like a gas welder backing off and on while welding.it has the remote linkage from honda on it conerting to a throttle cable.wwe played with the governor shaft ,started the engine it idled but when we stepped on the gas it launched the cart and would not back off the throttle?did i screw sometting up,is it an easy fix also what would beavailable to make this a higher reving engine that you could control more like a car engine rather than a load sensing engine? Can you help me?

Answer
Hey Kerry-
KUDOS on the souped up golf cart man!

Just make SURE your throttle cable it linked to a SPRING that goes to the throttle plate shaft on the carb.  And that the GOVENOR is DIRECTLY linked to this same plate shaft.
You may have to play around with the springs to get the right tension/length/responce.
GOOD LUCK lemme know how it goes!!!!!!  WAAA HOOOO
