Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): tecumseh, torque nut, torque wrench

Question
I hit a rock with my Sears push mower last night.  Not it runs bad.  I'm sure I sheared the timing key.  How hard of a job is it to replace it.  Do I need a gear puller?  It is a 6.5 hp self propelled.  I had this happen before and had it fixed.  Now everyone is busy and I can't get it fixed for a few weeks.  Any helpful hints?

Answer
 Hello Jeff:

You will Need a 3/8' and 1/2' Drive Socket Set. A Ft Lb Torque Wrench. A Steering Wheel Puller. A Strap Wrench to Fit the Flywheel. A Hammer and Safety glasses. Also a Screw driver may be needed. Remove the Spark Plug. Remove the Metal Engine Cover (Blower Housing). Remove the Center Nut. It Turns Counter Clockwise to Remove. Once the Nut is removed, Attach the Puller to the Flywheel using the holes in the Flywheel. The Bolts are either 1/4 x 20 or 5/16 x 20. The Bolts should be with the Puller even if you Rent one. Tighten Puller and Hit it with the Hammer to jar the Crankshaft. Tighten the puller again and hit with hammer again. Repeat this Process until the Flywheel Pops up. Remove Flywheel and Replace the Key. Replace the Flywheel and Torque Nut to 125 ft lbs. Replace the Blower Housing and External Components. Hope this Helps. Let me know what happens, Please.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
