Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): lawn tractor brake pads, murray lawn tractor, brake pad

Question
I have a murray lawn tractor mdl# 42544x8b. I have adjusted the brake adjustment several times, now there is no adjusting left I probably need to change the brake pads. Could you please walk me through this? I have a parts list for my tractor and it does not show just a brake pad as such it shows a right and left brake pad assymbly. Thank you for any assistance you can offer.

Answer
 Hello Wayne:

Have you been adjusting the Brakes from the Brake Assembly or from the Brake Rod? If from the Brake rod, the Pads may still be Good. On the Side of the Transaxle is the Brake assembly. In the Center is a Nut. This Turning this Nut Clockwise will Adjust the Brake Tighter and Counter Clockwise will Loosen the Brake. If the Pads are required then Remove the Brake Assembly from the Transaxle. There should be 2 Bolts Holding the Assembly to the Transaxle. Once you see the Brake Assembly you will see how the Pads are Replaced. Hope this Helps.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
