Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): mini bike governor, throttle control, mini bike

Question
hi .. i just purchased a 6.5 hp mini bike an it has alot of power on the take off but when it gets to a certain point it doesnt give me anything ..it should have way more power ..i know u can adjust the governor .. but my question is do u think it would be a good idea to dissable the governor compleatly ? will it stay  open where i cant get it back to idle ? .. or does the trottle cable bring it back reguardless

Answer
 Hello Alex:

STOP!!!  The Spring from the Governor Arm to the Throttle Control can be Changed to a Heaver (higher RPM) Spring. If you want to Shorten the One that is on it now. Dont Disassemble the Governor or Modify it. The Motor will Rev to a Point it WILL EXPLODE!! Just shorten the Spring until you have the RPM you want. I would suggest a 3200RPM Spring if you Purchase a New Spring. Red Line on your Engine is 3500 to 3600 RPM. Hope this Helps.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully
