Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): oil leak, upper shaft, shaft seal

Question
Hi John Thanks for the Information on removing the shaft seal on my Briggs 18.5.. I replaced it cleaned the engine and I still Have a leak NOT from the seal. It seems to become from between the fins on the left side Head. Now is the engine One piece? because I cant find any head gasket for it. and if so do I need to replace the whole assembly or is it something else.I cant see the cyclinder wearing out enought to cause a leak.

Hey
Thanks

Answer
 Hello Harry:

Im glad I was of help. Remove the Blower Housing and Check the Upper Shaft Seal. It is Under the Flywheel. Remove the Flywheel with a Steering Wheel Puller. Tighten the Puller and Hit it with a Hammer to Jar the Flywheel loose. There is a Head Gasket and Head Bolts. Re Torque the Head First, to 75ft pounds. Hope this Helps.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
