Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): poulan pro ppb100e weedeater, adjustment screws, throttle plate

Question
i have a weedeater that was meant for california and i live in tenn. and the problem is that the carb. is set for cal. standards and now has a recall on it. I get a run around from the 1 800 number, and all i can find out is the carb. needs readjusting. which screw is it? thx for your help

Answer
Hi Troy
On your two cycle carb there are two adjustment screws.  You will notice that one of them is actually between the throttle plate and the engine head.  This is the idle screw.

The other screw is between the throttle plate and the air cleaner.  This is your high speed adjust screw.  If the weedeater will crank, feel free to play around with this one until you get the feel for tuning it.  Open it up too much and the engine won't develop full power.  Close it down too much, the engine will run like a bandit, but quit suddenly.

If you like- lemme know exactly what the problem is and we can go from there- hope this helps!
