Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman lawn tractor battery cables reversed, craftsman lawn tractor, craftsman lawn tractor battery

Question
I feel very stupid! I got in a hurry and put the battery in place, but the new battery had the posts on the opposite side as the old battery, so I got the cables reversed.

The mower is a Craftsman. I do not have the model number right now, but it is a 15 horse.

There is what appears to be a fusible link which blew.

1. If the fusible link blew is it possible (hopefully) that is all that I fried? If not, what else should I look at?

2. How do I come up with a number or spec for replacing the fusible link?

The fusible link (what I think it is anyway), is on the left side of the engine (viewed from seat) and is a yellow wire. It is wrapped in a thin rubber tube which runs from a mutli-wire connector to under the top part of the engine.

Now, nothing happens when I turn the key (after correcting my stupid mistake). No click. No nothing.

Many thanks and hopes for good news!
Randy

Answer
 Hello Randy:

There is no Fuse Link. The wire that Fried is the Wire for the Magnetron Coil or the Charging System Wire. Uoy said Yellow so thats the Charging System. You may have burnt out the Safety Switches. There is a Replaceable Fuse in the Harness. It should be near the Ignition Switch. Hope this Helps.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully
