Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman Riding Mower Ignition and Charging, safety switches, c gold

Question
I recently changed the motor in my Craftsman Gt6000 with the 18hp I/C gold Briggs motor. The original motor had two wires on it, one for the kill and one for the charging. The motor I put in has three wires, the kill and a red and black coming from under the flywheel. Since putting in this motor I have not been able to start it using the key switch, but can jump it off and the charging system is not working. Can you explain the three wires and what could be causing these systems not to work now with the new motor. Thank You.

Answer
 Hello Kevin:

The Black is a ground for the Charging System. Red is to the Battery. Check the Ignition Switch and make sure the Soleniod Wire is Attached in the Right Place. That is why you cant start it using the Ignition Switch. Or Have you bypassed the Safety Switches  they could be giving the Problem. Hope this Helps.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully
