Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Ultra Murray 12 HP riding mower, problem thanks, pulleys

Question
I was given this mower this past week and it starts up fine and mowed half the yard fine, then, when I engaged the clutch/break, the mower will not move. The engine is running fine, I am a novice at riding mowers, the belt seems to look loose to me? would this be the problem? thanks for your assistance.

Answer
Hiya Keith,
Yup- your drive belt slipped off the pulley, or its broken.  Thing to look for- there are small rods that come straight down and are supposed to run really close to your pulleys off the engine and transmission.  If these get bent to far away they fail to do thier job, which is to keep the belt ON the pulleys when you hit the clutch brake (which throws slack into the belt).
Check that belt! And lemme know what you find!
