Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Toro/Wheelhorse PTO Problem, rear discharge, hello bill

Question
I have a Toro/Wheelhorse Garden Tractor, 1998, C314/8 speed. Engine runs fine. Problem is I can't get the PTO adjusted properly.  Seems as if something has moved inward, I'm close to being at the end of the adjustment rod, can't get the C shaped bar down far enough, am also getting a lot of vibration in the mower and the clutch slips after mowing for awhile.  Talked to the dealer who said I may need new bearing units for mower at $75 each and I have 3 on a rear discharge 36" mower, that still won't solve the clutch/PTO problem. Had PTO apart and checked all bearings, spacers and alignment can't find anything wrong, also took apart mover bearing housings and everything there seems fine. Any help or advice would be appreciated. This tractor only has 200 hours on it and never had any repairs to date.

Answer
 Hello Bill:

If you are sure the PTO Unit is good and the Valve is working properly. 1- Check ALL the Linkeage including the Pedal for excessive Wear. 2- Check the Rearend Bolts. Ensure the Rearend is still Tight to the Frame. Hope this Helps

 Good Luck
