Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): cub cadet wont start, safety switches, cub cadet

Hi John,
i put a new ignition switch in it last year because my key was bad. i dont know where or what the safety switches are.I am not sure how to jump the starter. Is there a good book out there that can give me the basics?Thanks for all your help.

My cub cadet wont  even click. In the past i have used a jump box and then i would be ok. this started after the winter. Last year no problems. Now i cant even jump it. I have replaced the cable ends to the battery. I cant even get the lights to go on.Not sure what to try first. I am not a great mechanic but i can do the basics. it is probably 8-10 years old.

 Check the Ign Switch first. Then Check all the safety Switches. Does it Start when Jumped directly to the Starter? If not the Replace the Starter. Hope this Helps. If not please let me know.
