Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Honda HR214 blade engaging cable, honda hr214, cable assembly

Question
Michael -

My Honda HR214 is at least 10 years old and has never given me any problem.  This week however the blade engaging cable frayed off at the engaging handle.  I have taken the engaging handle off and looked in that area, but do not see anything to indicate what the cable was attached to.  Can I repair the frayed cable with a metal clamp and eyelit on the other end of the clamp, and if so what is the cable supposed to attach to?

Thank you for any suggestions...

Answer
Hi Charles,

Sorry, I am not familiar with the configuration of your model or it's cable assembly.  You may need to trace the engagement drive backwards to see where the cable attached to.  Remove and disassemble whatever you need to. Most likely the entire cable will need to be replaced.  If you go to a dealer and order one they will probably help you with replacement tips.

Let me know how you make out.

Good Luck,
Michael
