Hi Michael....I have a Murray riding lawn mower with Briggs & Stratten 12hp I/c engine apporox 10 yrs old...Garage kept...Engine is choking out when you give it throttle...especially when you engage blade...Your detailed instructions on repair is appreciated...Thank You,

Hi Larry,

I would first suspect that the engine is starving for fuel.  Start by adjusting the carb's mixture screws.  Next, I would check the float bowl and needle valve for clogging and even consider rebuilding the carb.  Finally a compression test would rule out a valve or ring problem.
