Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): primer repair, needle nose pliers, retaining ring

Question
How do you repair/replace the primer on a Craftsman 6.25 mower?  The rubber "bubble" has a hole (I can hear air when I pump it) and will not allow enough gas to flow to start the engine.

Answer
Hi Ed,

Bring the engine model and serial numbers (Located on the recoil/cooling shroud) to any local repair shop to purchase a new primer kit.
Using a small screwdriver or needle nose pliers, pry the retaining ring from around the old bulb.  Clean the area and install the new bulb.  It comes with a new retainer.  Use a hammer and a socket that just fits in the opening, to drive the retainer on and seat the bulb.

Let me know how you make out.
Michael
