Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): engine replacement crossreference number, universal hope, sears

Question
I want to replace my craftsman engine. The model I have has been dicontinue by sears. Is 6.5hp and the model number is 143-976500. I belive that was manufature by tecumseh. Am been serching for manufature cross reference number. can you helpme out?

 Hello Hector:

 You will not find the  Cross Reference you are Seeking. Any Small Engine Motor will Fit your Frame. I Suggest you Replace the Engine with an 8hp to 10hp Engine if you can. You can even Replace the Tech Engine with a Briggs Engine if you want. You have to Make Sure the Shaft of the Replacement Motor is the Same Diameter and Length.  The Frames are all Made Universal.
