It is me again.
When I start the mower, it starts at full speed right away.
I am wondering is it the same problem for driving a bit fast (sell-propelled).
Please advise the problem when you have mins.

22'', 5.5 HP craftsman mower, the speed control, changes the idle speed from slow to fast (turtle to rabbit icons) does not effecet, other than that, it runs fine, but at full speed.
Does it like car's auto transimisstion? is it pricey to fix it?
I would need some advice.

If the Throttle Control Cable is Bad it will Allow Vibration to Increase the Engine RPM. Question? Does it always Start Idle then Speed up or does it Run at Full Speed when Started? If the Throttle Control isnt the Problem answer my Question and we can go from there.

Follow the Throttle Cable to the Engine. It sounds like the Cables Shield may have come loose from its Retainer Bracket. The Ground Speed is Determined by the Engine Speed. ie Fast Engine Speed; Fast Ground Speed. ALso Look at the Linkeage at the Carb. There is a Spring that Helps Return the Engine to Idle. Hope this Helps.
