Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): mower deck wont shut off, electric clutch, cluth

Question
I have a Craftsman 42" lawn tractor with electric mower deck engagement. The mower deck runs when the tractor is running and won't shut off. The safety switch on the seat still works and shuts the tractor off if I get off the tractor. Is the electris switch for the deck faulty?

Answer
I would start by checking the switch.  Do you have a voltmeter or multimeter?

The switch may be defective or the electric clutch may be the problem.  You can dis-connect the electric cluth by unplugging it from the connector and see if that stops the blades from turning.

Also, make sure the blade belt is on correctly.   It may have come off causing it to spin all the time.
What is the model number on the mower?
Let me know.
