Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Tecumseh high idle, good luck, grass

Question
Yesterday while cutting grass I inadvertently hit an object of some sort. Instantly my mower began idling very high. While continuing to mow, I noticed that the engine also seemed to bog down fairly easily in grass that is being cut once or twice a week with the same mower... any suggestions?

Answer
 Hello Clint

Three things. 1. Check the Flywheel Key - Replace if scratched or Half Sheared. 2. Check the Blade and make sure it is not Bent. 3. When Hitting Anything solid enough to change the Operation of a Mower the way this did; there may be internal damage also. If the 3 Items I Suggested Don't Help, then the Governor is Bent/Broken. This is common when Striking a Hard Object with a mower. I hope this helps you.

 Good Luck

 Respectfully

 John
