Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): small engine repair, bolens tractor, cam lobe

I have an 18 HP kohler engine on a bolens tractor.  The engine won't start, there does not appear to be any spark, it also appears that the points are not opening. I am not sure which way to proceed from here. thanx

 Remove the Point Set and Check the Contacts.  They can be Filed with a Fingernail File, however I suggest New Points. You want to REMOVE the SPARK PLUG and Turn the Motor by Hand to see if the Plunger the pushes the Point Set is moving in and out of the Engine Block; if so then replace the Point Set. They are Gapped at .020 If not then Cam Lobe is Worn and needs Replacing.
