Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): briggs 11 horse, silver square, kill switch

Question
I have a briggs 11 horse motor. is the coil supposed to be grounded or it the ground for installing a kill switch?
also do you have any tips for putting the flywheel back on? briggs says to put it on, then
insert the key but it won't seem to work that
way.
thank you, Don

Answer
The small black or green wire that slips onto the male conector on the coil is for installing a kill switch.

A briggs key is silver, square, and has a small logo stamped on it. It is installed from the top after the flywheel is slipped over the top of the crankshaft. However a briggs key is not exactly perfectly square it will only go in a certain way. Other types of keys are placed on the crankshaft first then the flywheel is set down over the top if them.
