Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Sears B&S rider turns hard, excess oil, flywheel

Question
Hello,
When trying to start the mower after the winter, the  flywheel spins almost around then stops.  When I manually rotate the flywheel it is difficult to turn  at one point.

I was reading other posts, I'm going to pull the plugs and shoot in some oil while the battery recharges, just checking for other suggestions - Thanks.

New plugs, rebuilt starter last year.

Answer
Make sure you spin the engine over several times with the spark plugs removed.

Oil in the cylinders can "hydralically lock" the pistons causing the engine not to turn.  By cranking the engine with the spark plugs removed you will push the excess oil out of the cylinders.

Let me know what happens.
