Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman Chainsaw Carb problem?, craftsman chainsaw, wood particles

Question
Crftsmn 16" chnsw.  Running one day, in mid-cut it shut off.  Won't start since.  Drained the gas and filled with new.  Nothing.  Sprayed starter fluid in and it started up and ran for a few seconds off the ether.  Figure fuel delivery problem.  Took carb off and removed fuel lines from carb.  I could blow threw lines back into tank and primer.  When disassembled the carb, I noticed the internal screen had small wood particles and one small metal particle.  I cleaned the screen.  When trying to blow into the carb fuel delivery port, I couldn't get air through.  I looked into it an notice small pipe inside the port.  Wiggled it and the small pipe disappeared inside.  Still couldn't blow air in.  Figure if air won't go in, fuel won't go either.  Any suggestions on what to do next?

Answer
Hi Michael,

I agree.   It sounds like a fuel related problem.  I would completely disassemble the carb and probe each hole and opening with a fine wire.  Blow it out with compressed air.  Add a carb kit with a new diaphram, if you can get one.

Good luck.
Michael
