Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): toro snowthrower S620 Tecumseh AH600, toro snowthrower, small pools

Question
Hi Eric,
I have a toro S620 Snowthrower with a Tecumseh AH600. It starts and runs fine. After I shut it off and leave it sit it appears to leak oil. There are a couple of small pools of a thicker oil that end up on the garage floor directly underneath each side of it. Do you have any suggestion as to where it may be coming from and how I can repair it? I didn't know if there is a sealed engine component that may be leaking. I'm not that familiar with 2 cycle engines. Thank you.

Answer
There is a gasket between the engine casings.  What mix are you using?

It's possible the oil is coming from the muffler.  It's difficult to tell exactly where the oil is coming from unless you remove the plastic cover(s).

Does it run well?  If so I doubt the gaskets are leaking because 2 cycles need to be sealed in order to run.

Let me know what you find.
Eric
