Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Auger on Snowblower, shear pins, broom handle

What should I be checking if the auger won't turn on snowblower?  Replaced the shear pins. Belts are fine.  They turn if I whack them with a broom handle and then stop as I approach any snow.  Craftsman 5 HP. 24" electric start trac-plus.  Any suggestions please?  Approx. 10 years old with no previous problems.

Hi Kathy,

You will need to trace the power path, starting from the engine's crankshaft, through the belts, the input shaft to the gearbox, to the augers.  Look for the point of no movement.  From what you already checked, I would suspect the gearbox.  It should have a cover that you can remove to inspect the gears.
