Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): MTD Snowblower, mtd snowblower, time kevin

Question
Dear Michael,

The other day I took my snowblower out of storage. There was no gas in it since last season. So, I added gas, checked the oil. All seemed okay. After I filled the gas tank I pushed the primer 4x to get it ready to start. Thats when gas was pouring out of the carbirator and the primer button. It did not stop until the gas tank was empty, I reserved the gas that I could. What happened? Did the carbirator go bad? There was no other location that gas was leaking from. All hoses were in tack and good condition, considering that the snowblower is only 2 years old or so. I removed the carbirator and cleaned it, checked all the connections to ensure there was no other leaks. Thanks for you help and time.
Kevin

Answer
Hi Kevin,

I would check the float's needle and seat.  A peice of dirt may be holding them open.  Replacing them may be the best thing to do.  Also check the float itself to see if it is heavy and fuel logged.  I usually store my equipment with stabilized fuel in the carb, to prevent gumming.

Let me know how you make out.
Michael
