Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Honda Snowblower HS724, honda snowblower, last winter

Question
I bought this machine new in 2003 and used it a few times.  I didn't use it at all last winter.  I have drained the gas, put new gas in, have changed the spark plug.  It starts up right away, but as soon as I move it off choke it dies.
Any suggestions?  Thanks.

Answer
Hi Kathy,

The carb most likely has dirt, debris or gummed fuel inside.
You will need to remove the carb, disassemble it, clean all the small internal openings and blow it out with compressed air.   Probe each and every hole with a small wire.  Adding a carb rebuild kit wouldn't hurt either.

Let me know how you make out.
Michael

It's best to stabilize the fuel when storing an engine for longer than 2 months.
