Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): 8 HP Honda starts fine then cuts out, fuel tank cap, hp honda

Question
I have a 8 HP gx240 QA2* (serial #GC04-3558306) Honda engine that starts fine and has plenty of power when started, it seems that when it warms up it then starts cuting out, it continues to run but not at full power and every time i want to move the blower, which it powers, back and forth it cuts out with the abrupt motion.  the plug is fine, i cleaned the carberator out and fixed a broken spring on the govoner arm, but the problem persists.  There is no difference when i take the air filter off and/or if i choke it while it is acting up it makes no diff.  is it possible that the bowl isn't filling with enough fuel and the float should be raised? or maybe govoner related?  when i move the govoner arm while it is running it sounds like it does when it is acting up.

Answer
Hi Evan,

I suspect the same as you did.  The float bowl may be restricting the fuel flow.   You can set it to rest a bit closer to the needle valve so it will open more.  First and easier, I would adjust the carbs mixture screws an eighth turn at a time.  Also, check the fuel tank cap for proper venting.

Let me know how you make out.
