Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Toro S200 Snowblower, fuel flow, toro s200 snowblower

Question
I have a Toro S200 Snowblower.  Although it is more than 20 years old (purchased in 1982), I have tuned it up and it worked fine until now.  The unit starts up ok after a few pulls, but then dies -- whether the choke is on or not.  If I keep pressing the black rubber primer button, the engine continues to run.  But once I stop priming, the engine dies. I'd like to keep this "friend" for another 20 years.  Can you help?
Thank you very much for your help,

Paul F.

Answer
Hi Paul,

Since it only runs when you prime, I suspect the classic case of a lack of fuel flow.

The carb most likely has dirt, debris or gummed fuel inside. You will need to remove the carb, disassemble it, clean all the small internal openings and blow it out with compressed air.   Probe each and every hole with a small wire.   Adding a carb rebuild kit wouldn't hurt either.

Let me know how you make out.
