Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): Craftsman 10 36 belt diagram, crankshaft pulley, proper direction

Question
I just paid $84 to have the belts replaced on my old riding mower.  Well my 10 yr old had a exciting ride down the barn road when the drive belt came off.  I put it back on but now when you push in the brake the tractor goes, let off the brake and it sits there-I cannot figure out how to put it on the correct way-NO ONE KNOWS-including the jerk that put it on.  Sears is no help either, can you help me or tell me where I can find a diagram-I am not afraid to get dirty.

Answer
Hi Sonja,

Sorry, I don't have a diagram.  I would look closely at all the pulleys and their rotating direction.  Start at the crankshaft pulley and trace that to the other pulleys. See how each one needs to rotate for the mower to move in the proper direction.  Try it different ways if needed and you will get it right.

Let me know how you make out.
Michael
