WE have a craftsman riding mower with a b&s 19.5 motor. It's started lopping,if I pull the choke out, it will idle, if it's not out it lopes. year unknown, model# 461707,type 0147e1, code 0104095a

Hi Carla,

Maybe a governer spring has broken.  The only other thing I can think of is adjusting the carb's needle jets.

Let me know how you make out.

Answer
The larger, high speed mixture screw is initially set at 1&1/2 turns out.  Then adjust it to give good acceleration and top speed while keeping the screw as far out as possible.  The smaller, low speed mixture screw is set at 3/4 turn out, then adjust to give a smooth idle.

If none of this helps, there may be a problem with the float in the carb float bowl, requiring carb disassembly.

Good Luck.
